I have proudly served as Stony Point’s Town Supervisor since January 2016. My top priorities are to continue to ensure that our community is safe, affordable and a great place to live for our families. To accomplish this, I have held the line on tax increases through sound fiscal management. In fact, I have achieved a reduction for our homeowner’s taxes in 2021 and my preliminary 2022 budget calls for an additional 3.02% tax decrease for our residents. Throughout the pandemic, I have supported our local businesses and have made difficult decisions for both the safety and financial security of our town. Working together with a great team, I have strengthened our town zoning laws to help preserve and protect the tranquility of Stony Point. I am so proud of the military banner program that I initiated to honor our local veterans. Additionally, I secured a grant for the renovation of the Town Hall, a symbol of our small-town character that we are working hard to preserve. On Election Day, voters will determine the future of the Letchworth property and golf course. If the sale is approved, and I believe it is in the best interest of the town, we will finally have the opportunity to direct resources towards other critical needs, while saving the taxpayers money. The challenges that we continue to face can be won by working together.

The Warming Center is Ready for Guests
New City, NY, – County Executive Ed Day and Commissioner of Social Services Joan Silvestri announced the opening date of the Rockland County Warming Center, November 1, 2021. Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland will once again be operating the Warming Center for homeless single adults at the Dr. Robert L. Yeager Health Center in Pomona.
“The causes of homelessness are complex, and our Warming Center will continue to help the most vulnerable people in our County remain safe while also helping to connect them to services they need like immunizations, mental health screenings and permanent housing options. Providing a warm and safe place for persons during this pandemic is a priority in protecting the health of individuals and our community at large,” said County Executive Day.
The Warming Center will operate from November 1, 2021, through April 30, 2022. The Center will open each night regardless of the temperature and remain open during the day when the temperature, including wind chill, is 32 degrees or below.
“In order to be in compliance with COVID protocols, we have modified the facility and established safety practices to ensure adherence to NYSDOH COVID-19 safety guidelines. All staff and guests will be appropriately screened (including temperature checks), wear masks and practice social distancing. Appropriate PPE has been secured and will be made available to staff and guests,” said Commissioner Silvestri.
The Center offers showers and laundry facilities. Dinner and breakfast are provided for overnight guests and lunch is served during the day when the center is open. There is security on-site when the Warming Center is operational.
The Center will open on Monday, November 1, 2021, at 5 PM. The locations where individuals can be picked up for transportation to the Center and the pickup times are listed below:
Nyack – 4:25 PM & 8:00 PM South Broadway and Burd Street (in front of the First Reformed Church of Nyack)
Haverstraw – 5:00 PM & 6:20 PM Village of Haverstraw Commuter parking lot (across from Village Hall)
Spring Valley – 5:30 PM & 7:05 PM Spring Valley Parking lot west of Key Bank on Route 59 by Planet Fitness
Pomona – Department of Social Services 5:00 PM at 50 Sanatorium Road (at the bus shelter Monday-Friday only)
The Rockland County Department of Social Services will continue to run its long-established Emergency Family Shelter for children and families.
Ed Day Endorsed by New York State Fraternal Order of Police
New City, NY – Ed Day, Rockland County Executive today announced the endorsement of the New York State Fraternal Order of Police. The NYS FOP is the oldest and largest National Association of law enforcement professionals with over 20,000 members statewide.
New York State Fraternal Order of Police President Michael Essig has issued the following endorsement, “We have based our endorsement upon your demonstrated and continued support of police professionals. Further, as police professionals who most experienced and witnessed the trauma and effects of criminal behavior wrecked upon our fellow citizens, we understand, all too well, the significance of dedicated public servants as you who possess the courage and compassion to promote the confidence in our government and courts.”

With their backing and the backing of all those is Rockland who value living and working in a safe and secure community, I am confident I will earn another term on Election Day. Ed Day is seeking his third term as Rockland County Executive. During his tenure he has turned an inherited $138 million deficit into a $90 million surplus, created the Rockland Center for Codes Investigations, and led Rockland through the COVID-19 pandemic through his “Safety First, People Always” initiative.
October 23-31, 2021 is National Red Ribbon Week
Each year communities nationwide join together to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse by wearing a red ribbon from October 23rd to 31st, which is the National Red Ribbon Week. Various activities have been scheduled throughout the month of October to celebrate the Red Ribbon Campaign.
The campaign provides communities with a forum to bring together parents, schools and business to find new and innovative ways to keep kid’s drug free.
The 2021 National Red Ribbon Week Theme, Drug Free Looks Like Me™ created by Marin Wurst, a 7th grader at Solon Middle School in Solon, Ohio, the Theme is a reminder that everyday Americans across the country make significant daily contributions to their communities by being the best they can be because they live Drug-Free!
The first Red Ribbon Celebration was organized in 1986 by a grassroots organization of parents concerned about the destruction caused by alcohol and drug abuse. The red ribbon was adopted as a symbol of the movement in honor of Enrique “KiKi” Camarena an agent with the U.S Drug Enforcement Administration who was kidnapped and killed while investigating drug traffickers. The campaign has reach millions of children and has been recognized by the U.S Congress.
