Stony Point Supervisor Jim Monaghan said: After several meetings with our Rockland County Highway Department personnel and with the assistance and support of our County Executive Ed Day, I would like to update our residents on the plans for the intersection of Washburns Lane and Central Highway.The Rockland County Highway Department has identified the course of action to improve traffic safety. The plans are as follows:- Immediately add additional road signage to alert motorists. – Eliminate the turning lanes on Central Highway, initially by removing the right-hand turning signage and re-striping the lanes.In the near future, construction will begin on moving out the curb lines, eliminating the ability for motorists to pass on the right. These changes to the intersection should slow down the traffic. It will also increase the site distance of motorists pulling out from Washburns Lane and will increase the safety of pedestrians walking on the sidewalks. Please slow down, don’t text and drive and stay safe.

CHILDREN AND YOUTH WITH SPECIAL HEALTH CARE NEEDS PROGRAM
A referral services for health and related areas for families of CYSHCN
NEW CITY, NY, – Rockland County Executive Ed Day and County Health Commissioner Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert remind Rockland County residents about the Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN) Program, which aims to connect families to support networks that understand the challenges of caring for children and youth with special health care needs.
A CYSHCN program specialist is available to assist families with children from birth to twenty-one (21) years of age that have a chronic physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional condition and requires health and related services beyond that generally required by children, make connections to available resources using various sources to make these connections such as the NYS Multiple Navigation System.
A few examples of conditions include intellectual disability, substance abuse disorder, autism or ASD, cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy, arthritis, allergies, asthma, sickle cell anemia, diabetes, heart conditions, diabetes, depression, conduct disorder, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, anxiety, cystic fibrosis, head injury, Tourette syndrome, blood disorders, epilepsy, and vision or hearing problems. For more information about qualifying conditions, contact a Rockland County Department of Health CYSHCN specialist to complete an assessment.
“Through the coordination and delivery of medical, educational, and related services, CYSHCN can help provide the referrals needed to meet the needs of children and families, thus enhancing the child’s quality of life,” said Dr. Ruppert.
