STAC’s Azarian McCullough Art Gallery: New Group Exhibition – Anomaly
(SPARKILL, N.Y. — November 14, 2022) St. Thomas Aquinas College announces its next exhibit, “Anomaly” a group exhibit featuring new sculptures on campus in the Azarian McCullough Art Gallery.
Please join us for a reception on Wednesday, November 16th, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. The show runs until December 18th, 2022.
A typical definition of an anomaly reads: “Something that deviates from what is standard, normal, or expected.” In the visual arts, anomalies that often come to mind were those created by the Surrealists.
The people or objects depicted in their works are, mostly, recognizable to us, so why do they seem so strange? Is it because they deny our expectations and appear odd, or because they appear misplaced in their surroundings, or perhaps both? The bigger question, however, is “why”? How does one explain their presence? Are they there to shock or otherwise heighten our sensibilities, or do they convey some message of importance?
This exhibit was conceived by members of 14 Sculptor Inc., and features the work of Dan Bergman, Allan Cyprys, Esther A. Grillo, Mary Rieser Heintjes, Bernice Sokol Kramer, Niki Ketchman, Siena Gillann Porta, Carl Rattner, and Herb Rosenberg.
RCC Nursing Program ranks in the Top 5 in NYS with two separate agencies
This Prestigious Recognition was Last Achieved in 2020
ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. (November 10, 2022) – Rockland Community College has once again received two prestigious recognitions for its Nursing Program. NursingProcess.org, a website that compiles nursing education and career information data, ranked RCC’s program # 2 out of 153 New York State Board of Nursing approved schools to pursue an associate degree program in nursing. In addition, RegisteredNursing.org, a nursing advocacy organization, released its annual list of the 2023 Best RN programs and ranked the Rockland Community College nursing program fifth out of 103 in New York State.
The College’s accredited Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program prepares nurses to meet the needs of the community and incorporates philosophical beliefs, scientific discipline, and concepts from nursing research to prepare nurses for careers in the ever-changing healthcare system. Tuition costs at RCC are about one-third of other colleges in New York, making it an affordable choice for future nurses.

RegisteredNursing.org assesses nursing programs on several factors which represent how well a program supports students toward licensure and beyond. The judges analyzed past and present first time NCLEX-RN “pass-rates” weighted by year to rank the schools. NursingProcess.org ranking factors look-into every dimension of a nursing school. They capture four broad areas, such as academic quality, NCLEX-RN exam performance, affordability, and the overall reputation of a school. Among the four areas, academic quality and NCLEX-RN first time pass rates have been given the maximum weightage as both these are clear indicators of a college’s academic performance. Update on Rockland Community Power: Upper Nyack’s Clean Energy Program

The Village of Upper Nyack is proud to continue participation in Rockland Community Power, an energy program that provides our residents with cleaner and competitively priced electricity. Since November 1 2020, we have joined together with other Rockland communities to leverage the collective purchasing power of our residents and small businesses to negotiate better terms for electricity supply through our Rockland Community Power program. From November 2020 through September 2022, participants in Rockland Community Power collectively saved over $9.4 million.
New Supply Offering
We are pleased to announce that the new supply offer will be available as of April 1, 2023. There are two fixed-rate electricity supply options through the Village program:
1) 100% Renewable Energy at $0.13068/kWh including Gross Receipts Tax
2) Standard Energy at $0.11410/kWh including Gross Receipts Tax
Gross Receipts Tax (or GRT) is always a part of your electricity bill in the village whether or not you participate in the CCA program.
You may choose between these supply options or opt out of the program. The Village has chosen the 100% Renewable Option as the default. Eligible residents and small businesses will automatically be enrolled in the 100% Renewable Option unless they choose the Standard Option or opt out of the program.
Timeline
The Rockland Community Power electricity supply offer in your community will be on a temporary hiatus during the winter months, following the expiration of the most recent contract on October 31st, 2022. If you were a participant in the program, you received notices from Rockland Community Power and ORU in October 2022, switching you back to ORU supply for the length of this hiatus. In the coming months, all eligible residents and small businesses will be notified by mail with information about the program’s new contract, choices and how to opt-out of the upcoming electricity supply offer through this program. Participants cannot change their selection or opt-out of the program, until those letters arrive in the spring.
Community Choice Aggregation
Rockland Community Power is empowered by community choice aggregation (CCA), a NY State policy that enables the Village to determine our own default energy offering, rather than accept the NY State and local utility default. Community choice provides access to renewable electricity at competitive prices with reduced volatility through a fixed rate contract. Participation also provides consumer protections, requires no action by those eligible to participate, and benefits appear directly on monthly ORU bills.
While all eligible residents and small businesses are automatically enrolled, they can choose not to participate. ORU continues to be responsible for electricity delivery, billing, and repair services for all utility account holders, regardless of their program participation.
Upper Nyack has selected Joule Community Power (CCA Program Administrator) to implement our community choice program.
