Central Labor Council Backs Day for Re-Election
New City, NY – Ed Day, Rockland County Executive recently received the endorsement of the Rockland County Central Labor Council. The Labor Council is part of the AFL-CIO serves the union families of Rockland County.
Union leaders cited Day’s positions on key labor issues affecting the real working families of Rockland as reason for their endorsement.
“We are confident that your decisions as an elected official will reflect the values of the working families throughout Rockland,” said Gil Heim, Labor Council President.
“We look forward to working with Ed to ensure our government represents the interests of all working families,” Heim continued.
“The members of Central Labor Council represent the hard-working men and women who are the backbone of Rockland County. I am proud to have their full endorsement and to continue to stand with them as we work to keep Rockland a great place to live, work, and raise a family,” Ed Day said.
Ed Day is seeking his third term as Rockland County Executive. During his tenure he has turned an inherited $138 million deficit into a $90 million surplus, created the Rockland Center for Codes Investigations, and led Rockland through the COVID-19 pandemic through his “Safety First, People Always” initiative.

Rockland County Planning Department Outlines “Grave Concerns” with NYS Accessory Dwelling Unit Legislation
New City, NY, – Acting County Planning Department Commissioner Doug Schuetz submitted comments (see attached) ahead of the Public Hearing on the Role of Local Governments in Accessory Dwelling Unit Siting and Assembly Bill A4854 at the direction of County Executive Ed Day.
“Our Planning Department detailed myriad problems with this legislation including undermining New York State Home Rule regulations and municipal zoning ordinances and creating public safety issues that would endanger our volunteer firefighters. While creating affordable housing is an admirable goal the one-size-fits-all approach of this legislation is extremely problematic and does not account for differences between rural, suburban and urban communities. I stand firmly in opposition to Assembly Bill A4854 in its current form,” said County Executive Ed Day.
The Rockland County Planning Department will continue to review the proposed legislation (Bill A4854) and will provide additional comments as the bill continues to be considered.
