Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick to Host Grand Opening for New Rockland District Office

NANUET, NY – Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick will host a Grand Opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for his new Rockland County District Office at 5:30 pm this Thursday October 7th. The new office is located at 163 Airport Executive Park in Nanuet.

The event is open to the public and dozens of local elected officials, community advocates, and faith leaders will be in attendance. The public is welcome to attend, and light refreshments will be served. This indoor/outdoor hybrid event will follow all applicable COVID guidelines, and we ask that all non-vaccinated attendees wear masks at all times.

The Senator’s new office has much more room to host meetings with constituents, far more convenient parking, and is centrally located in Rockland County.

County Executive Day Submits Comments to MTA On Central Business District Tolling Program

New City, NY, – Rockland County Executive Ed Day submitted comments on the MTA’s proposed Central Business District Tolling Program (CBDTP). Residents may sign up to comment during virtual public meetings to share input and concerns ahead of the release of the project’s required Environmental Assessment (EA) or may also submit written comments.

County Executive Day wrote, “For MTA to expect Rockland County residents to pay even one cent more is outrageous, let alone for each of our driving commuters to incur thousands of dollars more in commuting expenses each year with a CBD toll.  We are on the same side of the Hudson as New Jersey, but we are New York State residents and tax-paying members of MTA’s Metropolitan Commuter Transportation District.  Why should Rockland residents have to finance the MTA through congestion pricing tolls when the MTA does not provide us with adequate mass transit alternatives in the first place?  And why should we be asked to hand over even more dollars to a Capital Program that makes no investments in Rockland County?”

Ed Day Endorsed by the Operating Engineers Local 825

New City, NY – Ed Day, Rockland County Executive today received the endorsement of the Operating Engineers Local 825 representing thousands of highly trained and experienced heavy equipment operators, mechanics, and surveyors.

“On behalf of the more than 8,200 hardworking men and women of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 825, we are proud to announce that your candidacy has been formally endorsed,” Greg Lalevee of Local 825 said.

Ed Day is seeking his third term as Rockland County Executive. During his tenure, he has turned an inherited $138 million deficit into a $90 million surplus, created the Rockland Center for Codes Investigations, and led Rockland through the COVID-19 pandemic through his “Safety First, People Always” initiative.

COLUMBUS DAY TRANSIT CHANGES IN ROCKLAND

POMONA, NY – Rockland County Executive Ed Day and the Department of Public Transportation have announced alterations to public transportation schedules on Columbus Day – Monday, October 11th.

All transit systems require passengers to wear protective face coverings and to maintain safe
distancing.
• Transport of Rockland (TOR) buses will operate regular weekday service.

• Coach USA Rockland Coaches will operate the current adjusted service.
