Key To The County Awarded
New City, NY – During a ceremony in the Allison-Parris County Office Building Rockland County Executive Ed Day presented Dr. Frances Pratt with the Key to the County Award. The Key is presented to a person for engaging in selfless acts of service, leadership, or fellowship in the community.

by Rockland County Executive Ed Day
“As you know, the Key to the County is awarded to a person who makes a special contribution to Rockland. We have given keys in the past for acts of love, acts of heroism and acts of service and leadership. But today we recognize someone who has devoted their life to the people of Rockland County,” said County Executive Ed Day. “Dr. Pratt has left an indelible mark on our County. She’s been described as a soldier for social justice and civil rights, and as a champion for the marginalized and underserved.”
Dr. Pratt served as President of the Nyack branch of the NAACP for 40 years. She earned her nursing degree at Rockland Community College and climbed through the ranks to become the first African American Head Nurse in the Emergency Room of Nyack Hospital.
“She has marched, she has organized, she has fought for her beliefs. And in doing so she has enhanced the quality of life for every resident of Rockland. Her personal accomplishments are impressive and deserving of recognition all on their own. However, they pale in comparison to the impact she has had on our community as a whole. Dr. Pratt has served as a mentor to many. I am personally lucky to have been able to turn to her for counsel many times over the years. I am also honored to consider her a friend,” said Day.
Past recipients of the Key to the County include: Grace VanderWaal, Millicent Ivey Mackle, William V. Harris IV, Cole Donnellan, and Katelyn Tuohy.

COVID-19 2nd DOSE VACCINATION CLINICS RESCHEDULED DUE TO DELAY OF VACCINE SHIPMENT
Saturday, February 20 and Monday, February 22
New City, NY, – The Rockland County Department of Health (RCDOH) announces that the COVID-19 2nd dose vaccination clinics scheduled for Saturday, February 20, 2021, from 9 AM – 1 PM and Monday, February 22, 2021, from 9 AM – 6 PM have been rescheduled to Saturday, February 27, 2021, from 9 AM – 1 PM and Monday, March 1, 2021, from 9 AM – 6 PM due to the delay in shipment of vaccine as a result of extreme cold weather-related conditions across the country. The shipment of vaccines to be used at the RCDOH clinics has been delayed in order to protect the integrity of the vaccine to keep everyone safe.
Appointment days and times are rescheduled one week from your originally scheduled appointment.
If you have an appointment for Saturday, February 20th, to be vaccinated at the Rockland County Department of Health clinic, you will receive a COVID-19 vaccine on Saturday, February 27th, at the same time as your original appointment.
If you have an appointment for Monday, February 22nd, to be vaccinated at the Rockland County Department of Health clinic, you will receive a COVID-19 vaccine on Monday, March 1st, at the same time as your original appointment.
No new appointments will be scheduled, and you should come at the same time as your original appointment was scheduled. Please do not arrive more than 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time.
Per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), when a delay in vaccination is unavoidable, the second dose of Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines may be administered up to 6 weeks (42 days) after the first dose. Pending the arrival of vaccine, you will receive your second dose from the RCDOH within this time frame.
If you are unable to come on your rescheduled day and time, please email the County’s COVID-19 Hotline at COVIDCallCenter@co.rockland.ny.us or call 845-238-1956 to cancel; you will need to come for your second dose as soon as possible and will be prioritized for a rescheduled appointment upon receipt of our next allocation of COVID-19 vaccine from New York State.
We continue to evaluate the dates and times of future clinics based on supply and if we are forced to reschedule, those with an appointment will be contacted directly via a robocall and/or email. In addition, a similar press release will be distributed along with message on our social media pages. Follow/like us at https://www.facebook.com/rockhealth or https://twitter.com/rockhealth for up-to-date information.
Please disregard any automatic text messages or email reminders about your original appointment as those reminders are being sent directly from the New York State registration site and do not reflect local changes.
As a result of delayed shipment of vaccine, no additional 1st dose Points of Distribution (PODs) are currently planned.
“We are working as quickly as possible to get residents fully vaccinated and are committed to administering vaccine quickly when it is received,” said County Health Commissioner Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert. “We apologize for the inconvenience, but we are at the mercy of vaccine shipments and weather-related delays that impact scheduled 2nd dose appointments.”
