There has been an increase in residential homes being purchased by LLCs throughout the county, including here in Clarkstown. This often creates obstacles in the Town’s efforts to remedy and prosecute violations issued to properties. Any LLC purchasing property in Clarkstown is now required to register and make known all stakeholders with a 5% or greater ownership share in the corporation. Contact information for each individual will also be required.
A copy of the proposed local law can be found here.

NANUET, NY – The Nanuet Public Library is set to unveil “Nanuet Reads,” an ambitious community reading initiative aimed at fostering dialogue and unity within the Rockland County region. The program, which is making its debut, will spotlight the New York Times bestselling nonfiction book, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer.
Kicking off on Tuesday, September 26, from 10am to 7pm, the library located at 149 Church St, Nanuet, NY, will be distributing free copies of the book. This initiative is available while supplies last and offers three versions of the book catering to different reading levels: the standard edition, a Young Readers version, and a Picture Book.
To obtain a complimentary copy, individuals are encouraged to register for at least one event related to the “Nanuet Reads” program. The events encompass a broad spectrum of activities suitable for adults, teens, and children. These include:
Further expanding the program’s reach, Highview School Playground will host a StoryWalk, beginning on September 26. This unique experience allows participants to delve into the Picture Book Edition as they stroll outdoors. Pages from the book will be magnified and exhibited on panels along a walking trail. The innovative StoryWalk™ concept was the brainchild of Anne Ferguson from Montpelier, VT, realized in partnership with the Kellogg Hubbard Library.
To ensure participation in the events, registration is mandatory, with the exception of the Free Book Giveaway and the StoryWalk. Each event attended presents an opportunity for participants to enter a raffle, culminating in a prize distribution ceremony in late November. Categories for prizes include Adults, Teens, and Children.
The “Nanuet Reads” initiative for 2023 has been made possible through NY State funding, generously provided by former Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick.
For a comprehensive overview of event schedules, timings, and to register, individuals are advised to peruse the online Nanuet Reads Guide.
