With many families traveling to spend time with loved ones during this Thanksgiving, it is important that we prepare our vehicles and ourselves as drivers for the trip. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has provided some tips to help you get to your destination.

Know your car – Before driving clear snow, ice, and dirt from windows, headlights, taillights back up camera etc. Check pressure in your tires and their tread depth. Make sure all lights are working, and check your cars fluids (Oil, antifreeze, windshield washer fluid etc.).

Stock your vehicle – Carry items in your vehicle you may need in an emergency. Consider bringing a snow shovel and ice scraper, jumper cables, blankets, a cell phone with charger, water, food, and any medications you may need for longer trips.

Plan your travel route – Check the weather, road conditions, and traffic before leaving. Give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination. Dealing with an auto accident caused by being in a rush and driving aggressively will delay your arrival to your destination even longer than staying calm and driving defensively.

On Sunday evening, November 13, 2022, Supervisor Kenny attended the Friends of the Orangetown Museum 17th Annual Dinner. The Friends were celebrating Dominican University making history as they became Orangetown’s first University. The Friends also acknowledged their volunteer, Ashleigh Malone and their Interns, Jeremy Silber, Melissa Moise, Martina Gomez, Frank Visconti and Sarah Konyak. It was a fantastic night of celebrations held at the ’76 House.

The Tappan Fire Department held their 2nd Annual 5K on Sunday, November 13, 2022. Despite the rain that fell in the morning, the race started promptly at 9:30 am, with dry skies. Congratulations to Race Director Dan Fuller on bringing together over 200 runners. And Congratulations to all those runners who placed in their age groups, especially Supervisor Kenny (1st), Claire Eckert (1st), Katelyn Fuller (1st), Fayne Frey (1st), Bill Carpenter (2nd), Caitlin Kenny (2nd), Michelle McGwyne (2nd), Matt Lenihan (2nd), Carmel Reilly (2nd), Alyssa Connolly (3rd) and Glenn Coleman (3rd).
