Statement from County Executive Ed Day Regarding Arrest of Haverstraw Fatal Hit and Run Driver
My thanks to the Town of Haverstraw Police Department and the Town of Clarkstown Police Accident Reconstruction Team for their quick work processing the crime scene and to the NYPD and NYSP for their assistance in apprehending the suspect in this tragic case. As a former police commander, I understand and appreciate exactly how much hard work went into securing this outcome. It is my hope that the family of Juan Germosen can rest more easily tonight knowing the person allegedly responsible for his death is now behind bars and that justice will be quickly served in this case.
Arrest made in fatal Haverstraw hit and run
The Town of Haverstraw Police Department would like to announce the arrest of Sugundo Landi-Lucer, 43, of Queens, NY in connection with the fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred on the morning of November 23rd, on Route 9W in the Village of Haverstraw.
Landi-Lucer will be arraigned later today on charges of Criminally Negligent Homicide and Leaving the Scene of an Accident resulting in death. We would like to thank the Clarkstown Accident reconstruction team for their assistance processing the crime scene and the NYPD Sentry Unity and NYSP CTIU-South for their assistance in the apprehension of Landi-Lucer.
Police seek driver in fatal hit and run in Haverstraw
The Town of Haverstraw Police Department is investigating a hit and run motor vehicle accident that resulted in the death of a pedestrian that was crossing Route 9W in the area of Fairmount Avenue at approximately 04:47 am on November 23, 2021.
Pictured below is. Still shot of the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was last seen traveling North on Route 9W from New Main Street. It is described as a silver or white Ford Explorer with dark rims and a moon roof and should be missing the passenger side mirror and have damage to the front passenger side bumper. We are asking for anyone who many have any information or may have witnessed this accident to contact the Town of Haverstraw Police Department at 845-354-1500.
