Village Hall and DPW will be closed in observance of Veteran’s Day. Trash will be collected on Friday, November 12, 2021. Recycling will be collected on Thursday as scheduled. Parking fees are suspended for the holiday, alternate side parking rules remain in effect.

Loose leaf piles should be placed on homeowner’s property – and not on sidewalks or in the roadway. DPW will be picking up leaves starting November 2, 2021 through December 10, 2021. Leaves may be placed in biodegradable paper bags or left loose in a pile on homeowner’s property. Consider mulching leaves as a sustainable approach to landscaping. Residential Yard Waste Drop Off

Residential drop-off at the Clarkstown Yard Waste Facility — located at 166 S. Rt 303 — is open to all Rockland County residents in non-commercial vehicles only. Acceptable yard waste is brush, grass and leaves. All waste needs to be separated and dumped in the designated container. NO PLASTIC BAGS ALLOWED.

April 1st through November 30th, 7:00am – 2:30pm

The first major Nor’Easter of the year is on the way! A flash flood watch is in effect beginning Monday Evening. Heavy rain may produce areas of flash flooding. Nyack is expected to receive 2-4 inches of rain, with 1/2 to 1″ per hour possible at times. Strong wind gusts of 40-50 MPH are also anticipated.

Home Prep Checklist

• Don’t get caught in the dark. Have a lights-out kit that’s well stocked and handy. Be sure to include flashlights, fresh batteries, and a battery-operated radio or TV so that you can tune to local stations for updates.
• Take charge. Make sure your cell phone and other electronic devices are fully charged. You may also want to pick up a portable charger to give batteries a boost when the power’s out.
• Keep it cool. Turn your freezer and refrigerator to the coldest setting. It will help keep food cool longer if the power goes out.
• Watch your water. Stock up on bottled water, and fill up your bathtub and spare containers.
• Plug protection. Be sure to protect major appliances, computers, and other electronically sensitive equipment by either unplugging them or using a surge protector.
• Fill ‘er up. Fill your car’s gas tank ahead of time.
