Six Rockland County municipalities are participating in the second round of the Rockland Community Power Program: Orangetown, Clarkstown and the Villages of Grandview-on-Hudson, Haverstraw, Nyack and Upper Nyack.
The Rockland Community Power Program provides eligible residents and small businesses with the option of either renewable of standard electricity supply at competitive, fixed rates, with no individual contracts for consumers and no exit fees.
Over two years, program participants in six communities saved over $10 million. The program also gives each of us a way to reduce our carbon footprint, while capping electricity supply rates.
The program will renew with new rates in April 2023,
Holiday Schedule for Nyack Village Hall and the Department of Public Works
- Friday, December 23, 2022: DPW will close at 11am. Village Hall will close at 3pm.
- Monday, December 26, 2022: Village Hall and DPW closed. No Trash collection.
- Tuesday, December 27, 2022: Trash will be collected. Village Hall will be closed.
- Friday, December 30, 2022: DPW will close at 11am. Village Hall will close at 3pm.
- Monday, January 2, 2023: Village Hall and DPW closed. No Trash collection.
- Tuesday, January 3, 2022: Trash will be collected. Village Hall reopens at 9am.

Rockland County is now considered high risk and the following are recommended actions by the CDC:
- Wear a mask indoors in public and on public transportation.
- Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines.
- Get tested if you have symptoms.
- If you are at high risk for severe illness, consider taking additional precautions.

Home Prep Checklist
- Don’t get caught in the dark. Have a lights-out kit that’s well stocked and handy. Be sure to include flashlights, fresh batteries, and a battery-operated radio or TV so that you can tune to local stations for updates.
- Take charge. Make sure your cell phone and other electronic devices are fully charged. You may also want to pick up a portable charger to give batteries a boost when the power’s out.
- Keep it cool. Turn your freezer and refrigerator to the coldest setting. It will help keep food cool longer if the power goes out.
- Watch your water. Stock up on bottled water, and fill up your bathtub and spare containers.
- Plug protection. Be sure to protect major appliances, computers, and other electronically sensitive equipment by either unplugging them or using a surge protector.
- Fill ‘er up. Fill your car’s gas tank ahead of time.
