The Town of Ramapo will be continuing with our distribution of test kits and KN95 masks after having successfully distributed to first responders, EMS workers, and municipal workers throughout the town, including our villages.
On Monday, the Supervisor will be meeting with the mayors of the villages within the Town to discuss the next phase of distribution of test kits, which will go to our seniors and underserved, vulnerable populations. This distribution for seniors will be to seniors at home and in senior housing; nursing homes and other congregate care facilities will receive allotments directly from the state.

At my request, members of the Hi Tor Animal Shelter Board of Directors including Board President Debbie DiBernardo presented an update to my Administration on their plans to continue the safe operation of the shelter. This presentation included up-to-date financial and operational information along with information about the continuing professional development of Hi Tor’s management staff.
The Board affirmed their focus on the continuing care of the animals and reassured my Administration of the short- and long-term stability of their organization. The Rockland County Department of Health continues to visit the shelter twice a day to ensure the health and safety of the animals, and the County remains committed to building a new state-of-the-art shelter facility.
I continue to ask those who regularly volunteer with or support Hi Tor to stay committed. Your time and effort are greatly appreciated and help to ensure the health and safety of all the animals currently housed there.

To clarify, the issues brought up during last night’s meeting of the Rockland County Legislature will not in any way delay our ability to assume the duties of the Spring Valley Building Department on February 14, 2022. I have been reassured by County Legislature Chairman Jay Hood that a vote on the Local Law necessary to enable this take over will be held during their next meeting, which is currently scheduled for Tuesday, February 1, 2022.
Rockland County is ready, willing, and able to take over the functions of the Spring Valley Building Department. We have spent the last two months preparing for this task by utilizing staff from the Office of Fire and Emergency Services, Facilities Department, Purchasing Department, Information and Technology Services, Law Department, Personnel Department, Finance Department, Office of Consumer Protection, and the Office of the County Executive to complete the organizational work required.
As soon as we are empowered to do so, Rockland County will act to protect the health, safety, and welfare of residents, business owners and first responders within the Village of Spring Valley.

Next week the Town of Ramapo will be continuing with our distribution of test kits and KN95 masks after having successfully distributed to first responders, EMS workers and municipal workers throughout the town, including our villages.
We move on to our seniors and will be in contact with senior facilities. We have been advised that nursing homes, congregate care facilities and schools will be receiving from other sources.
We will continue our efforts to get kits and masks out to our residents as soon as they are available.
