Clarkstown Fireworks Extravaganza Returns Wednesday June 25

WEST NYACK, NY — The Town of Clarkstown invites residents to celebrate the summer season with its annual Fireworks Extravaganza on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Felix Festa Middle School. Originally scheduled for a later date, the event was moved to accommodate Clarkstown South High School’s graduation.

The evening promises family-friendly entertainment starting at 6:30 p.m., including a live concert, various food vendors, and activities for children such as juggling performances. The night will conclude with a dazzling fireworks display that Superintendent of Parks & Recreation Matt Veronesi described as “magical.”

In the event of rain, the celebration will take place on Friday, June 27. For more information, contact the Parks & Recreation Department at 845-639-6200.

In 2009, Joe took over ownership from Lenny, continuing the store’s legacy while infusing it with his own dedication to community and quality service.

 

Today, Joe runs Herb Lack Paints & Hardware alongside his son Glenn, who transitioned from his own construction company to help manage the store full-time. Joe’s wife, Arlyn, now retired, also pitches in to support the family business. Together, they continue to build on the store’s reputation for excellent customer service, reliability, and an extensive selection of products.

 

The store offers everything from top-quality paints—featuring premium brands like Benjamin Moore—to tools, small electrical repairs, key duplication, and even window glass and screen repairs. Over the years, Erika’s business flourished, adapting and evolving to meet the ever-changing demands of her loyal clientele. From modest home studios to a charming brick-and-mortar location in Nyack, ES Home Textile Studio has become an emblem of creativity and craftsmanship.

 

Sara, an artist at heart, initially pursued a career in teaching but found herself drawn back home after the pandemic. Located in downtown Nyack, Corner of Ukraine is more than just a restaurant—it’s a celebration of tradition and culture. Owner Ivanka Dashko, originally from western Ukraine, never planned to stay in the U.S. But after meeting her husband, Ivan, she built a life here, first launching Green Tie, a catering business, and later fulfilling her dream of opening a Ukrainian restaurant
.
“It was always in the back of my mind,” Ivanka says. “I wanted to bring real Ukrainian food to this area, but I knew it had to be done right.”
Spring Valley has a large Ukrainian community, yet no authentic Ukrainian restaurants nearby. Ukrainian food is a labor of love—like borscht, which requires layers of carefully prepared ingredients to achieve its deep, rich flavors.
“Ukrainian food isn’t fast food,” Ivanka explains. “Everything is made from scratch—no shortcuts.”
During a visit to a Ukrainian restaurant in NYC, she realized how much of its menu had been Americanized. That moment solidified her mission: to serve food that remains unapologetically Ukrainian.
Her restaurant is truly a family effort. Her mother hand-makes pierogies, and many staff members came to the U.S. through Uniting for Ukraine, allowing them to share their culture through food. “I tell my employees every day: You’re not just working for me—you’re working for Ukraine.”
Beyond the food, the space itself tells a story. Embroidered textiles from different regions of Ukraine decorate the restaurant, each piece carrying history and craftsmanship. The Nyack community has embraced Ivanka’s vision, showing unwavering support.
Looking ahead, she hopes to preserve tradition and educate others through food. An affordable lunch special makes it easy for more people to experience authentic Ukrainian flavors.
